Simformotion’s Apprenticeship Portal: A Gateway to Skilled Careers

Simformotion is dedicated to helping build a skilled workforce of heavy equipment operators (HEOs). As part of this commitment, we created the Apprenticeship Portal. This portal offers valuable information for individuals who want to become apprentices, as well as for organizations, schools, and companies that are interested in establishing apprenticeship programs.

We have recently updated our site to include detailed information, including news articles and apprenticeship opportunities for all 50 U.S. states. Our goal is to simplify the process for career seekers who are looking for and want to enroll in apprenticeship programs in each state.

In addition to the U.S., we included information about countries like Canada and Switzerland, which have well-established apprenticeship systems that combine classroom learning with hands-on experience.

For more details or to share your apprenticeship program, visit the Apprenticeship Portal.

Construction Angels Continues to Grow Across the United States

Simformotion is a proud national sponsor of Construction Angels, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families of construction workers who suffer fatal jobsite accidents. Construction Angels’ ongoing commitment helps ensure that surviving spouses and children receive immediate, compassionate assistance during times of devastating loss.

In addition to being a national sponsor, Simformotion has participated in an Annual Golf Outing held in memory of Richard “Bird” Gaunt, who was tragically struck and killed by the driver of a pickup truck, while pulled over on the side of a highway.

“We appreciate Simformotion’s national sponsorship and participation in our annual golf outing,” said Shannon (Aupperle) Gaunt, Bird Gaunt’s wife of 30 years and organizer of the outing. “When there’s a construction fatality, Construction Angels is the first financial responder. We give $8,000 to the surviving spouse and $3,000 to each child. We also provide $1,000 reimbursement for grief counseling.”

How to Extend Undercarriage Life Animated Infographic

The undercarriage is the most expensive part on a tracked dozer or excavator, representing 50% of the machine’s owning and operating costs. Operators can help extend an undercarriage’s life by properly operating the machine and taking actions, such as avoiding unnecessary reverse operations, minimizing sharp turns and counterrotations, maintaining the correct track tension and more.

Watch this animated infographic to learn more ways operators can help extend the life of an undercarriage.

Georgia’s Heavy Equipment Operator Pathway Program Continues to Build a Workforce Pipeline

The Georgia Highway Contractors Association (GHCA) recently held its annual teacher training event for the state’s Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) Pathway Program at ER Snell Corporation in Snellville, Ga. The three-day session brought together 26 educators from across the state, including six new teachers to the program—some of whom had never operated heavy equipment before.

To ease the new teachers’ transition and update the veteran instructors, Simformotion sent a dedicated team to demonstrate how to set up the Cat® Simulators systems, enroll students in the SimU Campus™ reporting system and navigate the SimScholars® curriculum.

“Some of the teachers have never operated heavy equipment, let alone taught it, and they’re nervous about teaching a subject they are unfamiliar with,” said Nick Utech, SimScholars curriculum writer. “My job is to take away those nerves by explaining our comprehensive curriculum as well as letting them know that our team is here to support them 24/7.”

Read more about the HEO Pathway Program and the role Cat Simulators systems and SimScholars curriculum are playing in it. Ask how you can start a heavy equipment operator training program to build a workforce pipeline in your region.
