Why did you choose to work at Simformotion?
After I left working for the federal government, I was offered the opportunity to continue working with the government and the military branches in a very different capacity. This intrigued me, and now, 11 years later, I love helping establish training programs throughout government and civilian entities across the globe.
What’s your job title, role and responsibilities?
Director of Government Affairs – in this role, I educate stakeholders about the need for heavy equipment operators and assist in developing dedicated funding streams to assist entities in establishing or expanding their training programs.
Favorite part of your job?
I thoroughly enjoy the brainstorming and collaboration involved in developing a brand-new initiative, whether at a school, correctional facility or private industry, and knowing that the work we do helps change lives.
How do you and your team help our clients' training programs succeed?
We support our clients’ success on multiple fronts, from our in-person Train the Trainer service to our Level 1, 2, and 3 support teams, as well as providing refresher virtual training via our streaming room and collaborating with our marketing team to help promote a partner’s program. We want to ensure each program is fully operational and training the future workforce of operators. Additionally, we work closely with industry, agencies, and associations to “build the bridge” between training and securing careers for student operators.
What career/life advice would you give someone?
To quote the late, great Jimmy Valvano, “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.” When things look to be too difficult and you cannot seem to find a way forward, keep pushing and don’t give up. You’ll know when it’s time to quit, but this is not it.
