New Cat® Simulators Small Dozer System

The new Cat® Simulators Small Dozer system teaches learners how to operate the Small Dozer, including inspecting the machine, maneuvering it off and onto a trailer, backfilling, V-ditch building and more. Set in a virtual construction environment, the system features authentic Cat controls, a motion system that allows users to feel vibrations and movements as the simulated machine operates during training exercises, and an option to add VR Edition, which offers a more immersive experience.

“We often hear of the struggles to find skilled operators. Cat Simulators systems help companies build their workforce. Our customers need training to increase production, reduce costs, and teach accurate and consistent techniques. We develop Cat Simulators based on feedback from real-world users and Caterpillar subject-matter experts. The new Small Dozer simulator system trains learners using authentic Cat® controls, teaches applications found on real-world jobsites and provides best-in-class operator training,” says Simformotion CEO Lara Aaron.

Cat® Simulators Motion System Provides Real-World Machine Behavior, Making Heavy Equipment Operating Learning More Effective and Realistic

Throughout the years, Simformotion clients have expressed their appreciation for the realistic feel learners experience with Cat® Simulators systems when learning to operate heavy equipment.

“We wanted the real-world feel. We wanted the movement in the seat. We wanted the vibrations,” said Collins Career Technical Center’s Associate Director Michael Staton. “We wanted the simulators to just feel as much like sitting in the seat and behind the stick as they possibly could. And that’s what Cat Simulators offer.”

To achieve the real-world feel, Cat Simulators collaborated with D-BOX, the industry leader in motion training, to integrate a motion system that replicates the full range of movements and vibrations that operators experience in real machines. The motion system simulates pitch, roll, and heave, along with intelligent vibrations that match the machine’s engine output and terrain interaction.

With its rated payload of 67 tons, the Hydraulic Mining shovel is made for mines using large haul trucks. They provide an efficient solution to meet production capacity in these environments. To help prevent safety hazards and mechanical problems, operators should conduct a pre-operation walkaround inspection before every shift. Other safe practices include inspecting the work area’s highwall, bank and pit conditions and checking the area around the shovel for people or obstructions. Construction Angels Continue to Make a Difference

Simformotion is proud to be a national sponsor of Construction Angels, Inc., a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization that provides immediate financial assistance and grief counseling to children (19 years & younger) and spouses left behind when a construction worker is involved in a work-related fatality. The organization offers construction scholarship opportunities to qualified applicants and additional scholarships to the surviving children of a fallen worker.

Construction Angels has been a beacon of hope for construction families, having donated over $600,000 this year alone to those grieving the loss of a loved one. The organization aims to raise $100,000 by December 31, 2024, to provide critical national funds for families outside of the state fundraisers in 2025. Your support can change lives, and enable Construction Angels to help 12.5 construction families in dire need of assistance.

Together, we can spread our mission further and ensure that every family feels the love and support they deserve. Let’s unite to help ‘One of our own’ and make a lasting impact in our industry!
