Simformotion™ LLC Announces Cat® Simulators 2018-2019 Scholarship Winner

Peoria, IL, August 2018—Simformotion™ LLC – a leader in heavy equipment simulator development – is pleased to announce that Justin Christensen of Utah has been awarded the 2018-2019 Cat® Simulators Scholarship. He will receive $2,000 to support his pursuit of a heavy equipment-related career.

Applications were accepted from students enrolled in an accredited heavy equipment-related program at an institution that utilizes Cat Simulators as part of their training program or curriculum. Christensen is currently enrolled in the Heavy Equipment Operations program at Utah State University, Eastern. His career focus is operating multiple types of heavy equipment, in particular the Dozer and Loader.

Christensen graduated from Salem Hills High School and will attend college at USU this month. His interest in heavy equipment came from working on a sheep ranch, where he was able to operate tractors and cut hay in a Swather. His love of the outdoors extends to his favorite hobbies of hunting, fishing, riding horses and camping.

The need for heavy equipment operators is well documented. New operators are in great demand as companies try to fill positions. “We hear from customers often about the frustration of trying to find skilled operators—not just in the US but on a global level. They look to schools such as USU, to help build a qualified workforce,” says Simformotion Vice President, Renee Gorrell. “The scholarship we offer is one way we can contribute to someone’s dream of becoming a heavy equipment operator.”

Simformotion has been awarding the Cat Simulators Scholarship since 2011.
